NAW, YOU'RE REALLY NOT SURPRISED TO HEAR FROM ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm planning on doing my annual Bike Trek for Breathe California again this year at the ripe old age of 89. I still do well on the level but the hills wear me out. I just might find me an electric bike to use this year. I have had COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disese) for many years. I credit my bike riding for keeping it progressing slower than usual. Joining my COPD problems, are increasing lower back pains when I'm on my feet. Fortunately, it doesn't affect my bike riding.
As you may remember, last year BC created the "BOB ROEHRS COPD FUND". All my donations were directed to this new fund and the response was almost beyond belief. After all the last minute donations were added in, the total exceeded $11,000.
A SPECIAL INAUGURATION PLAQUE WAS CREATED LAST YEAR WITH THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO DONATED $250 OR MORE INSCRIBED ON IT AND TO BE DISPLAYED IN THE BREATHE CALIFORNIA OFFICE. NINETEEEN NAMES ARE ON THE PLAQUE AND THE TOTAL WAS $6588. IT IS ON DISPLAY IN A PROMINENT PLACE AT THE BC OFFICE.
Because the idea of the plaque was such a great success, and there is ample room on the wall beside last year's plaque, BC has agreed to promote it again this year. The $250 level remains the same so if you want to be a repeat or a new donor please do so.
Thanks and God Bless,
Bob Roehrs #89
In people who have COPD, the airways are partially blocked-either because of thickening and mucus, or because the airways are floppy and collapse, or both. It is the third leading cause of death in the US, killing more than 140,000 Americans each year. (Health, United States, 2015; Center for Disease Control)
